In Japan, we eat soy all the time. For breakfast we have rice with natto and miso soup with tofu; for dinner we pop edamame into our mouths in between chopsticks-full of vegetables sauteed in soy sauce. (NAPSA)-A recent report published in The Journal of Nutrition shows soy supports a healthy heart and bones. The new research detailed in the report was presented at the eighth International Soy Symposium on the role of soy in promoting good health, which was held in Tokyo in November 2008. "The research presented on soy and heart and bone health showed strong rationale for people to include soy in their diets," said Mark Messina, Ph.D., author of the report and professor of nutrition at Loma Linda University.

I started coming down with what I thought was a mild cold last Thursday after a solid week of five days straight at the gym. I was feeling good, feeling my metabolism increase, feeling my clothes clinging less. I went to bed early Thursday night, hoping to stave off any plague that might be entering my body.

From 1621 when the Pilgrims first celebrated Thanksgiving through today, the holiday has centered around two main themes: thanks and food. The 117 million households in the country are all potential gathering places for this year's holiday, and all potential places to incorporate some "green" practices. Anyone living in the Treasure Valley for more than a few days knows that Chinden Boulevard is named after the Chinese vegetable gardens that fed the local residents for many years. Less well known are the agricultural operations at the Minidoka relocation camp (actually located near Hunt, Idaho, about 50 miles west of the town of Minidoka) during World War II. The relocation camp was in an area that was managed by the Bureau of Reclamation and was deemed to be good future farmland.

THERE is an odd crowd on my late-afternoon flight from London to Barcelona. Peeking at the reading material of my seatmates, I notice that most of us seem to be heading for the UN climate-change talks in Barcelona —the last before a larger gathering in Copenhagen this December. For the last two years, most of the world's nations have been negotiating a deal that is supposed to reduce carbon emissions and tackle climate change.

Our choices may depend on our own personal styles. Some people are more comfortable with adopting a myriad of eco-tips. No one change in their behavior is significant, but taken together, many small changes can have an important impact.

We all know a couple who seems like they shouldn't belong together, and yet they do. I have a friend, who I'll call Annie, who is a beautiful, glamorous social butterfly. She's always attending parties, wearing fashionable clothes, and dazzling men wherever she goes.
