Last year, as a junior at Howard University, I had the typical college student's urge for drastic change—we'll call it my "boho moment."
I staged a one-woman boycott against hair weaves and chemical relaxers—and while I was at it, I decided to swear off meat, too.

From 1621 when the Pilgrims first celebrated Thanksgiving through today, the holiday has centered around two main themes: thanks and food.
The 117 million households in the country are all potential gathering places for this year's holiday, and all potential places to incorporate some "green" practices.
Starting with small steps can make having a greener holiday seem more like a fun experiment rather than attempting to change everything at once.

Anyone living in the Treasure Valley for more than a few days knows that Chinden Boulevard is named after the Chinese vegetable gardens that fed the local residents for many years.
Less well known are the agricultural operations at the Minidoka relocation camp (actually located near Hunt, Idaho, about 50 miles west of the town of Minidoka) during World War II.
The relocation camp was in an area that was managed by the Bureau of Reclamation and was deemed to be good future farmland.
